Cambodia 1My life has taken on a whole new depth and direction in recent months.

Through subsequent journeys to Cambodia over the last 5 years and stories too plentiful to describe here, I continue finding myself called to facilitate building fresh water wells for outlying villages outside the city of Siem Reap and now to erect an ongoing school for the countless children (from orphaned and destitute to those overlooked by the present government educational system).

My latest trip (January 2010) saw great leaps in terms of our progress and even getting official permission from the Ministry of the Interior to recognize the school out of the bounds of government restriction and control. Trust me, that was big.

With more than 1 out of 6 Cambodian children dying before the age of 5, the need for and provisional supply of basic hygiene, fresh water, agricultural and trade skill training along with a simple educational platform makes a dent in that statistic.

Cambodia 2To be among them is to discover a people so resilient and willing in spite of the genocide and violent regime that claimed the lives of millions of their own as recent as the mid 1970′s.

With your generous help, the first half of 2010 has provided opportunities for us to make great progress.  We’ve supplied 8 fresh water wells, food packs, malaria prevention nets and more throughout the neighboring villages of Siem Reap.  We have rented a piece of land, constructed a rudementary, but functioning school building that currently burst with lively eager children who rotate taking educational classes and skills training with their day to day work in the laboring fields.  Current total – 198 children and more want to come.

The work is ongoing and the needs constant.  My vision for the remainder of 2010 is to raise a minimum of $13,000 to expand and fund these programs so that no child is denied or turned away.

The 501c3 process is underway and being filed through my new state of residency – Georgia.  Till approval, we can only ask that you give merely for the sake of giving.  Tax write offs will be happening soon.

Additional needs broken down by costs are:

  • One Fresh Water Well w/Pump: $300
  • Food Packs: $160
(one-month supply for all children in school)
  • One Set of Chickens: $50
(9 hens and 1 rooster – when another 10 are birthed they are passed on to another family)
  • Bicycle: $60
(the bicycle is loaned to the child for as long as needed for them to have transportation to and from school)

Cambodia 3At the  present, Cambodia does not allow us to have a merchant account and all funds have to be bank wired. There are fees involved and my current solution/idea is to solicit funds through this site, my company—The Conscious Company, and then placing one lump sum bank wire transfers each month until circumstances change.

Would you help me by either:

  • Donating to The Future Khmer Children’s Organization via PayPal:

  • Going to http://www.davidault.org, clicking on the music store, and ordering the 5 pack.
  • Or, if you would like to help in another way, contacting me at revdavidault@gmail.com to discuss that opportunity.

Each month end I will post a Progress Report Button on this page, detailing our current fundraising and ongoing progress.
